Put some 8' boards in it this morning at Home Depot and shut the tailgate. Sure couldn't do that in my 2018 Chevy. Probably not many trucks on the road today that can. I guess?

Yep - was looking for a long bed 2 door pickup , seems extended cab or 4 door cab with short box is only thing out there . Since dog doesn't need it's own door to get in truck it's real slim pickings on finding anything

They only build what people will buy... "MOST" do not want a 2 door long bed.. It is useful, but the majority dont buy that.

Yeah Steve, I think you're right
I'm happy to have my old long bed when I need it but I'd rather drive my crew cab with it's 5'? bed. |

I have a chevy square body K30 standard cab long bed dually with a 454 hardly ever drive it. I always drive the crew cab very short bed gmc. old K30 gets to drive during snow events pushing plow or hauling generator welder otherwize it just sits. it rides horrable and drinks like a drunken sailor. I gave away my old C10 a few years ago it was a 250 straight 6. 3 on the tree base truck been looking for another since there just are none to be found.

C 10 s are the latest fave for hot rod/custom projects. If you do find them they can be pricey.

Trucks have come a LONG WAY in the past 50 years... I use to have a 1969 C20... and later a 1989 F250... Wide ratio 4 speed with 351M engine... That thing was a horse, but rode like a tank...
Today a have a 2013 F!50 4x4 with a 6 speed trans and 385 HP V6 turbo.. Crew cab with GOBS of room in the front and back.. Interior as nice as a new Lincoln and rides like a Cadillac ......Locking rear end --- will go thru a foot of snow and drives on the highway at 80 MPH all day long ( if needed) ......... you just cant beat that !

Love my 2015 F150 Lariat, but the box is only 6.5' long. It has the 3.5L EcoBoost and that turbo is really snappy. It is getting real close to 250,000 rounds on it now and it still runs like a top. I still rely heavily on my old 2004 Chevy 1/2 ton too though. It has a little 6 cylinder for great gas mileage, but is only a 2 wheel drive. It was all they had on the lot when I bought it, but I sure wish it was a 4x4.
