Finally got the crew out and had them pour a couple of slabs today. The boys will be back tomorrow to finish cutting, and fixing the landscaping. Jeff the crew boss tells me they are having trouble getting cement. Also went to the horse pistol and had a CT scan of my old kidney, looking for a stone. That was a real treat. The gals wanted to inject some dye in my veins. I told them they had to stick me on the back of my hand. So they knew more than I did. They stuck me 3 times in both arms before they gave up and used my left hand. I had to drink about a quart of white stuff because they wanted a picture of me intestines. That darn stuff really cleans a guy out. FAST. I bought a 17' JD tandem wing disk. It needs 4 tires on it, but it looks real good. The guy said $500.00 so it will come home next week. It's about 4 miles down the road.

Your post made me laugh, when I think back about the old carpenter that built Dad's barn back in the '60's. Somebody said something about "pouring cement". His reply was "We are going to pour concrete. Cement is an ingredient in concrete".

For some reason, I have always remembered him saying that (and repeated it many times!).

Yep! My daughter is a civil engineer and we play that comment on everyone! I had a couple construction technology major friends in college that took it one step further. They said you don’t pour concrete, you place it. Haven’t heard that one since though.

Yeah, I am a retired engineer and it always bugs me when people say cement when they should say concrete. I think that my wife does that to bug me.

I'll probably put a whole bunch of bee hives on the slab behind the machine shed. The other slab was poured so I could keep the mud and dirt out of the commercial kitchen.

Some good news today, no kidney stones. Instead I gots a big ol hernia and they found a spot on my right lung. We are gonna talk about the hernia on Tuesday. They will do another lung scan in 6months. The disk will be parked out back. I'd have preferred a AC disk but I couldn't pass this one up, the price was right.
