There are a few tach rebuilders out there.  Find one that will work on it and get it repaired.  I wouldn't recommend the aftermarket ones.

Don’t waste your money on the aftermarket junk. Get Haim Zeevi at Star Speedometer to repair it. It will be like new when he repairs it. Has a 1 year guarantee also, he does great work. He has rebuilt 3 for me in the last 6 years. D15,D17, 190XT

Don’t be shocked when it costs a little over $200. It gets completely disassembled, cleaned, anything broken gets replaced. Factory tach’s are precision instruments and they don’t make em like they used to. That’s why I choose having him repair mine.I had him also replace the decal and bezel. Hour meter stopped working on all of mine, I asked him to leave the hours as is. He will reset it if you would like. I would recommend getting him to make you a new cable also if yours has a lot of hours on it so it doesn’t mess up the new drive he installs. His are factory correct and very nice. Just ship the old one with the tach so he knows exactly the type ends you have and the length of the cable.
Tell Haim Robbie sent ya, super man to deal with. I enjoy talking to him and just call to chat sometimes.

I will second the recommendation for Star Speedometers! Had him repair 2 different tach's a few years ago and they are still working!

I did get a hold of Haim.seem like a genuine man. We talked for about half an hour..He did tell me it would be a month from when he gets it until I get it back. I will still consider a used one to get me by while he has mine so I'll have a spare. Thanks for the help guys ..JB

My XT has been working for 6 years, I don’t regret for a second of having Haim repair it.

That’s what it looked like when I sent it to him. I’m sorry for the poor pic, way too big. As you can see he ran it for .03 hr to confirm all is well. Works as it should, no bouncing needle with new cable.
