10K trailer tires are 8 years old. Going to replace this summer. ST 225 -75- 15 - 2550#
Present are Carlisle..... stick with that or Maxxim, Trailer King, TowMaster, etc ??

I think at 8 years old setting in the sun, it might be a good idea to get new..maybe i should wait a couple years..... I have a couple smaller trailers that dont get much use and lower load..and they could use tires... will use these take offs to upgrade the OLD farm trailers.

Recappers will no longer accept truck tires date coded seven years or older. Carcass becomes too inflexible.

I just put Goodyear Endurance radials on my tilt deck. I looked all over and finally bit the bullet on the Goodyear’s. They are made in the USA. Of the set of 4 Chinese tires the local tire shop sold me 5 years ago had 1 tread split a year ago and just has a belt fail on a second one. The other 2 were showing bad tread cracks over 1/3 - 1/2 of the tire. I don’t tow that much and most of the time it’s just taking the zero turn mower over to the folks or picking up some long lumber that doesn’t fit in the truck. I miss being able to get 10 ply bias LT tires. Used to keep those on all the trailers and they lasted forever.

10 ply bias LT tires were far better than any trailer tire.

Steve, take a look at Firestones. We sold a whole lot of them. I can't remember problems with them. I have them on my big trailer. I would have put them on my smaller trailers but they stopped making them in the size I needed. I did just check with my old tire supplier. If I still owned my tire shop these would cost you.
Tow Max STR ll load range E $70.26 each
Multi Mile premium trailer D $85.33 each
Carlisle Sport Trail LH D $86.40 each
Carlisle Radial Trail HD. E $94.61 each
They are sold out of Firestone so they will not post a price until they restock. These prices would be mounted, a new rubber valve stem included. Tire disposal would be extra. I hope you can find them for less in your area.

When I was looking for new tires for our fifth wheel, I asked the manager of the tire shop I used what was best. He didn't hesitate when he said Goodyear Endurance. They are pricey, but I have seen the damage a blowout can do to a camping trailer.
He also specifically said he would not recommend LT (light truck) tires for a tandem or triple axle trailer that is very heavy. He said the LT tires are not built for the scuffing that happens when turning short with a multiple axle trailer.

Want ST branded for trailers. Rubber compounds and belting layout is different.

The tires on my gooseneck are the same size as my pickup, So I by quality pickup tires and then use them as trailer tires when the get down to the 8-6 / 32 range, then I finish wearing them out on the trailer. The problem with new tires on trailers is they rarely wear out before getting too old. All four of the "ST" tires that were on the trailer from new developed belt separation issues after about 6 years and got lumpy, with over half of the original tread left.
