Going to a new one now. Old 1 retired. This one started out doing xrays. I always thought that stuff was crap for a chiropracter. I think they outta be mandatory now. This guy knew I had prostrate surgery lately, actually happened in Feb. He showed me the stitches they put in. He's got my neck "in". That's something that hasn't been in for several years. From my shoulder blades up are fine. He said " you've had a major blow to your back sometime in your life". Yep, I had a snap coupler plow come unhooked at the coupler bell and the lift arm snaps did not unhook. The plow noze dived landed right on my back. This was in the 1970's. He's slowly working on me, I do feel better that I have for a long time. Might feel like going to Hutch this year for a visit.

Have to note
Have heard of a few ‘good’ ones but the majority are quacks. Had a back injury 1977 been debilitating over the years to levels I would seek oit any kind of relief, always informed the quacks as to that injury and off they would run to start cracking and adjusting. One of the several bothered to do a few xrays first, said not much could do to help and recommended surgeon, was ONE time in all the recommended Chiros that I was ever referred to. One insisted he could fix my lower spine and damn near crippled me worse in ‘82. Wife insisted I try her ‘New to Her’ Chiro as we moved into our current home. Took a couple xrays scanned the films and without any consideration started maneuvering me. One sent a hard shooting searing pain into my leg where he stopped and stated that should not have occurred where I refused to return ending up on a surgeon’s table two years later. Cannot remove stenosis or fix ruptured or herniated discs cracking joints. Traction is a antiquated form of Chinese torture I endured in ‘77 for close to two months where should have undergone the knife then as noted by two physicians that have treated me these last five years. Finding a good one is the key and hard to do. When I was a kid in grade school we used to have a good one, He would work you over from head to toe and make sure everything was in line. One time had pressure like you always wanted to have BM and that was simply a pinched nerve, sure was nice to get rid of that feeling. The one I was going to last has quit and need to find a new one, Can tell when everything is in line and working properly. I think it does have some effect on overall health. No different then any other doctor some think they can fix anything that ails you, the smart ones know when they need to refer you to someone that knows more then them.

Thats exactly right Dan... and theres doctors that won't listen to what you say, but just prescribe meds that they think might help you. Years ago had a chiropractor that came from Milwaukee to Balsam Lake to retire. Said he wanted maybe ten patients in the morning and go fishing in the afternoon... Ol' Doc Smith soon was doing 30 patients a day, just by word of mouth. He would give you a treatment from head to toe, tell you what you should do and hoped he wouldn't see you for a long while... and if he told you to come back, you better do that cuzz you needed more work done to correct what ever happened... and if he told you to go see the medical docs, you better do that because he was trying to keep you healty. One day we were sitting in the waiting room when a fellow from the twin cities came stumbling in. Said his world was spinning and couldn't go any farther, he was headed to a car auction somewhere in WI. Receptionists says Doc is full of appointments Sorry... Fellow pleaded for help. Finally the doc came out and told him his list was full and didn't have time for him... fellow pleaded some more and doc looked at him and said you were never here, and I have witnesses to attest to that, Then looked him straight in the eyes, spun him around and twisted and snapped and lifted and cracked and spun him back and looked at him once more and spun him back and twisted and cracked him some more and spun him back around and asked how he felt. Fellow says he hadn't felt that good in years and asked how much he owed him... Doc says, "nothing, go home and find yourself a good chiropractor, you were never here". and reiterated that he had witnesses to that fact. Fellow insisted on paying and Doc told him to go back home. But the fellow said he felt so good that he was heading to the car auction. Good chiropractors are hard to find.

Good back crackers are hard to find. The one I see from time to time takes me a hour to get to. I couldnt stand one time and she was out of the office. Went to a different one with no improvement. Saw my normal one the next day and felt twice as good.

Like all things some are better than others. Some you really need to run away from.
I have had the instant help as well as I think it helped. My dad started having asthma at 60 years old. A bone cracker convinced him he could make the asthma better. All it did was make his wallet lighter. So use the good sense the Lord gave you. The if it's to good to be true IT IS applies here to. I have damage to the Ulnar nerve in the right arm 2 finger that are numb all the time. Talked with chiropractor and agreed to some treatments, and he advised if there was no difference soon it would not happen. Which seemed very reasonable to me. But the best Stanford medical center had could not find it ether. Was ready to cut me from spin to my hand so he could splice it together. So again no real pain lets not make more trouble. Another mad doctor that I did not wish to become as science experiment.

Im going to disagree. while there certainly is a point of no return, my brother had a ruptured disc. took part of the fall and all winter, but by going to a GOOD chiropracter, and not doing much for 4 or 5 months, the disc repairted itself and he is now able to work. to be clear- the chiropracter DID NOT heal the ruptured disc, but rather kept proper alignment (picture lopsided, deflated inner tube- it dont stay aligned very well), thereby allowing the disc to mend itself. I would not be the least bit surprised if that disc is weak and may very well happen again, but this GOOD chiropracter kept the knife away for 3 years or so now. This guy and his brother are 2 of the 3 i will go to. x-rays, sometimes repeat visits, and not that cheap. but back to work faster, minimal pain to no pain during adjustment, no swelling... the GOOD ones are worth every penny. Takes me 50 min each way for the closest 1 and I do not mind 1 bit

Summer of 2019 I couldn’t raise my left arm high enough to flip a lite switch at times I’d have to use my right arm to lift my left onto the steering wheel. Went to family doc she sent me for X-rays and MRI at follow up appointment I got referred to a ortho specialist. He did tests while in the office he wanted to refer to to neurologist to do neck surgery. No way was I having neck surgery at 42. On the drive home wife asked if I’d try a progressive chiropractor sure it beats surgery. He took more X-rays and gave me an adjustment told me he doubts one appointment will cure me but it did. I’ve had full use of my arm since. Edited by victoryallis - 02 Jun 2021 at 1:49am |
