I think they are all SPREAD OUT pretty good in the country and not as much TRAVEL to other countries as Europe or the USA.... so they got a SLOW START.... They have given out 125 MILLION shots, but they have a BILLION people so it is taking FOREVER.

Remember these people eat with their Right hand, wipe with the Left, and many times washing is wiping the hand off with a rag. And people wonder why the Hindu or Muslim get sick a lot.

3000 deaths/day is just over 10% of the daily average. Not making light of situation but how does 10% increase overrun a country??

It's probably due to 'crowding'. Consider that 1/2 ! of Ontario's Covid19 cases are in 'Toronto', where the population lives in high density(apts, condos, subways, etc). Also unless you MASS vaccinated EVERYONE, PDQ, it'll keep spreading....like a wildfire.

Spread out? Don't think so. In areas, sure, but not the vast majority of the population.
Thinking last year's data was garbage myself.

spread out was a poor way to explain it... More that they have very little interaction with the people in other parts of the country.. The more ISOLATED you are, the slower the spread... Jay is right, once it gets into the CITY with high populations, it spreads fast.. Like NYC in the US.... You can be a city of a million people and have no spread as long as you are ISOLATED and have no one coming in or leaving... Once you get the spread started, it spreads fast.

Well yes of course it spreads fast in densely populated cities, like in NY. Like in certain NEIGHBORHOODS in NY even. I didn't need someone to tell me that.
I'm still not sure where you're coming from on the isolation of people in India? I mean, maybe so, but what makes you think that? There's so damn many people there, it's hard to even imagine what life is like. But, there's manufacturing, military, education, global trade. Not sure how much of it is isolated.

I think a lot of areas have a MINIMAL amount of travel........... until 2 months ago when their ELECTIONS and RELIGIOUS holidays increased that TRAVEL.
In the eastern state of West Bengal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party held huge rallies in March and April during the state elections. On Wednesday, the state reported more than 17,200 new daily cases, the highest single-day tally in the state so far. On Feb. 26, when the election dates were first announced, the state reported only 216 cases. The state’s previous high came on Oct. 22 of last year, when it reported 4,160 new cases. “These large election rallies along with the Bengali new year celebrations were major contributors to the rapid increase in new Covid cases in West Bengal,” said Baijayanti Baur, doctor and public health specialist based in Kolkata, |

Looks like some have conveniently forgotten about the 'Yellow Bird' Administration back in Dec. when Daily Cases reached 250,000 and Daily Deaths reached 3500. G |

Gary... skip FORWARD 4 month to a point where 125 MILLION have been vaccinated...and the cases are getting WORSE.
Europe / England / US and many others PEAKED about the end of the year... Now all are on the decline... except India and a couple others... odd ? Edited by steve(ill) - 29 Apr 2021 at 12:39pm |

Steve Looking at the Vaccination Graph, the Vaccination Rate ( number administered per day) appears comparable to the rate in US. China on the same graph has increased there rate per day. The problem in India is probably their greater population. Their 1.4 Billion equates to 4 X's the US population. Therefore I think they would have to Vaccinate 4 X's faster than their present rate per day to finish around the same time as US. G |

India is experiencing one of the world's worst Covid-19 outbreaks, reporting 379,257 new cases on Thursday, a new global record, according to figures released by the country's health ministry. The country also reported 3,645 deaths, the highest number of Covid-19 deaths the country has reported in a single day. Even more deaths and cases may be going unreported.
India's daily death toll is now projected to continue climbing until mid-May, according to prediction models from the University of Washington's Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluations. The death toll could peak at more than 13,000 a day -- more than four times the current daily death toll, the predictions show. |
