Seems a few differences of the covid need clearing up. My younger brother got the covid 3 weeks ago, spent 2 weeks at home and returned to work last week. He called me an d said he was coming over next 2-3 days ,,,,? I told him to bring his mask as I read where a person can still be a carrier even if he got past his bout with the virus. He says he is "clear" and no danger to others,,,?? Anybody know FOR SURE??

That’s what they told me when I had it? They make a big deal out of not getting it but once you tested positive and did the quarantine it’s like it’s not a big deal anymore? I don’t know proceed with caution.

My wife got it . It was like a bad cold, I never got it and I had to stay quarantined for ten more days then she did. She was quarantined for 11 days. I was in lock down for 3 weeks. It is my understanding that after you get it and heal up you are safe. But you know it is your house and your rules.

I had it in Nov/Dec. It hit my wife's digestive system,it hit my lungs I spent 3 days in the hospital & 2 more weeks on oxygen here at home. Here's the short version of what they told me, toss everything you have heard or seen on this stuff out the window,we know way less about it than we know, because you've had it doesn't mean you can't get it back if exposed. We didn't take this mask deal all that serious until I had 2 IVs in one arm another in my left arm and hoses stuck up my nose. So long and short?? It's your house, your rules but I know I don't want that crap again

Joe, I think some folks here may have missed your point. I am not a specialist but think along the lines you are referring to. Humans can "carry" a lot o things and not be effected personally. Wonder why I always got sick when I went to SC and visited with the grandies that were in grade school. Hmmmmm Guess we are gonna have to get on the horn with the Fouch.

From a Joe to Joe, your brother can still be a carrier. He has protective antibodies for him to prevent disease but he still can be a asymptotic shedder. Even people that are vaccinated with our new vaccines have the potential to shed. Your brother can come over. Just everybody wear a mask and try to stay six feet a part.

Yeah,,from Joe to another Joe,,,,that's kinda the way I heard it. I have all the underlying issues thet the friggin virus likes and the Wife is even worst with her ESRD,,!! Another thing is my younger Bro is the "touchy-feely" type of person that likes to hug and shake hands,,so I told him to wear a mask when he comes over,,,, I told him he may be safe FROM HIMSELF,,,but he ain't safe to others. I think it is a crying shame that all the professional folks that could have and should have made all this a lot better for the public,,,instead chose to politizise the virus thereby hurting so many Americans. OK, I'm done and Thanks for all the help.

I would recommend he not be invited, especially with the wife being in an immune deficient way. If you folks hung out on a regular basis that would be a little different, but since he is not a member of your household, and your situation, he should not be invited. Talk on the phone! Keep wearing them masks. They are about our only defense right now. My Niece is a nurse and they been wearing two masks in the hospital for quite a while now. I'm thinking I'm gonna start doing that. She works in the non covid ICU.

You know,,John,,I been noticing the two mask action on a lot of professional people,,fact is,,all the nurses at the Dialysis Center are now wearing two masks!!! THAT should be telling us Something,,??? I have two of the heavier cotton material masks that are really close fitting that I use every where I go. AND,,as much as she don't like it,,,,I DO NOT take her to town any more unless it to the Dr's office or the Dialysis center.

Joe, if you lived in my area, I would have thought that at least your Mrs would have been eligible for the Vaccine before now. Wife and I both got a call from the med center we use and they stated that they had vaccine on hand now for over the hill and ailing folks like us now. We are two weeks past the first dose by just getting on the list with the county health department. You folks having any such luck in this big crap shoot? - hope so. And BTW I think the best advice you have received on this thread was the sage variety.

in a name .... Typhoid Mary Probably the most famous, though NOT the deadliest, she was a 'carrier' of a Typhoid. Realistically I won't consider it 'safe' until 39 days AFTER the 'No more masks' alert goes out. That's what I told the 'vampires' the other day, cal me then and I'll be your first donor. Jay

Who rules are two negative test before you stop isolation. One of my colleagues was testing positive four weeks after his initial positive test. It gets confusing because the test tends to throw so many false positives

Our rules at work are — you are clear 10 days from when you had your first symptoms to exit isolation and return. No retest! I’m no doctor but, some people are returning to work and sound very bad. My question has been how to determine the asymptonmatic (spelling off) ones that may or may not have had exposure. They only are required to quarantine 2 weeks from when they “may have had exposure” again— No test!

Man,,!! I'll tell ya'll for sure,,,I just wish some world reknown medical specialist, who is neither democrat or republican with absolutely NO POLITICAL AFFILIATION,,,,, to tell the world what you can and can't do plus why and why not so people KNOW what they have to do to remain SAFE. I'm all for protective social distancing for me and also FROM me!! I believe that the Pandemic was polisticized to the point that after so many different "experts" opinions, CHIT,,nobody is sure what you should be doing,,so most people want to err on the safe side,,,but,,,we cannot stay in solitary forever,,,,can we,,,??

The FACTS are that we normally spend several YEARS figuring out a "VIRUS", how it works, who it effects, what the long term is, how it is spread.................. Right now it has ONLY BEEN 11 months and we ALREADY have a Vaccine... they dont even know how it spreads or why some get it !!!............... NOBODY KNOWS THE ANSWER... They are all GUESSING.

Was in to Doc for another issue and as we were exiting the exam room he asked if I had concerns on the virus - I mentioned unsure and the hassle of getting vaccinated -
He said well I can bypass that for you ( and he said he had his second shot the week before) . When I got to checkout they handed me my information on visit and said I was now scheduled for vaccine 2 days later at local hospital at 9 AM . So now waiting for the 2nd dose as they set that up at the time I got vaccinated . instruction sheet says nothing on the question but does state people who are vaccinated might show up POSITIVE after as antibodies will be present in system that will give a FALSE POSITIVE after . |

Joe I hope I’m not stepping out of line here but here goes. Jenny says at the nursing home the rule us 21 day lockdown. After that they shouldn’t be contagious.
The. She said it could be picked up along the way as a carrier. She also says double mask and six feet distance. Then she says keep Joyce completely away and remain away for several days after he leaves. I wouldn’t allow it if it were my house. Sad and hurtful but just the way it is. My mother says I don’t care about her because I don’t go inside and deal with her in the yard. She runs all over where she wants every day. It kills me to hurt her feelings but Jenny and I follow the rules. Can’t dare chance her getting it and taking it to her work. |

Joe,why not err on side of caution? Sorry Bro but we'll do phone conversations for now. If he's offended it's his problem. Makes no sense to risk your and her health for an in person visit. We all die at sometime. Why hurry the process.

Not saying this the be a wise guy, but the regular flu bug did not die and leave this world just because a "new improved" kind came along. There where a lot of people had a bad flu bug in the Nov 2019 to March 2020 when the "new flu" is reported to have landed on our soil. Me included. But which one was it, just another bug I don't want to have again. Joe easier to be careful before you get it than fighting it after. But I am with the nobody can say just what all is right at this time bunch.

That's a good point Ray,,,, Since everybody was so focused on the covid and nobody on the Flu,,,makes one wonder how many cases of Flu were diagnosed as covid,,,,? I never did hear any figures discussed for the Flu,,? Only'ist thing I heard about the Flu was that there were more deaths caused by the flu in previous years than the covid ,,,it all such a big CF,,,,

Yeah, Lou,,I agree whole heartedly,,,,,!! I finally called my older Brother, the Dr in Milwaukee, and he almost parroted what ole TomC had to say. So, I texted my younger bro and relayed what our Bro had to say,,and good thing we got that settled. Also,,just a couple of days ago, I seen one of our friends that "Used to be" regular visiters at the grocery store,,,both him and his wife have had it and he was wearing a mask!! So, thats good! You just gotta treat EVERYBODY as if they are carriers,,,cause they sure might be,,,,,!! Heck of a world,,ain't it,,??
