I'm looking for someone that knows hydraulic controls.
I bought a towable back-hoe.
It has 4 control handles/levers.
 Left to Right
   Boom Swing
   Boom Up-Down
   Arm In-Out
   Bucket roll In-Out
Is there something that can be added to slow the swing?
Also when I push the boom up it drops some before it goes up. Is this a defect or is there a simple adjustment to fix this.

Thanks,
Dusty

Dusty, check out "color flow valve". But they're pricey. In any case, you need a restriction in the line, adjustable is nice. There are fixed-orifice flow restrictors available too. You'd have to experiment to see what size you need. But it's basically just a coupling that screws in between your hose and the cylinder.

Surpluscenter.com has adjustable flow restrictors, about $10. You might need 2, if your machine uses a ram(s) instead of a clock motor, to rotate the arm.

What machine are you working on?Wink

There are several different styles available, and obviously different sizes, fittings, flow rates etc. Look on ebay or surpluscenter or Baum hydraulics or your local place for a "hydraulic flow control valve" I personally like the kind with a lever to one side better than the needle valve type, but that varies by application.

if you bought it used your control levers and boxes might have alot of wear, do your levers wiggle without the hyd's moving anything? sometimes it's just a pin on the bottom of the levers that gets wore. not saying you don't need a restrictor, but i'll bet your controls are wore alot. also try to work them with the engine slowed up a bit, you ussually don't have to run the engine full throttle unless you are constantly moving the arm.
