01A1E3BE-98DB-452A-BF64-1A5D5AD349B9.jpeg Picked up 7040 Powershift today so expect technical questions to follow in the coming days. As luck would have it got it unloaded and drove it around hay field. Didn’t see the little stump on the edge of field and punctured the right front steer tire so I get to go to the tire shop in the am.

Thanks Ed. Tractor had been sitting a year. Owner said we would have to spray a little shot of ether and we did. After it was running it would fire up without it . But after the three hour drive home we had to give it a little shot. Clutch switch did start smoking when we first started it. Is that a common problem? We disconnected the wires and held them together to start it after that.

No the clutch starter interlock switch is not a common problem that I have heard of.

Got the new tire today and put it on the tractor. Checked the rear tires and they are not loaded. Can’t decide if I need to load them up or not? It has wheel weights on the rear.

After all the debate I've read on this forum I would run without first to see how you get along. Maybe you wont need to load them if you have enough weight on already. Otherwise calcium chloride is too corrosive for some while washer fluid or beet juice is expensive and messy

Change the tire valves out every two years and you shouldn't have rusted rims again. Just got to remember to do it.

That's what I've been doing. Does someone make stainless valve cores?

I've had a stainless scissors break in two after a number of years of being exposed to chlorine dioxide sterilant. That is not immersed in it but once a week being sprayed with it every 5 minutes or so over the course of hours. The stainless steel corroded away. Since then I switched to German made scissors rather than Pakistan made one and I've had these for at least 10 years with no problems and they don't blister my fingers like the Pakistan ones.

On that note I'm betting that stainless valve cores made in China won't fair much better than normal ones. There are better grades of stainless apparently. I think the ones I get from Tractor Supply are stainless.....maybe..... I think. But I still change them out and yes they are made in China. I challenge anyone to find any made in the USA. I'll buy them if I can find them.
