Since these are NLA for the 6000 series, I am going to make my own.

Any opinions on whether I should stay with the original 1/4 inch (6.3mm) spade-type connectors or “upgrade “ to the waterproof IP68 pin-type automotive connectors?

I found kits for both types but am not sure which would be best.

Thanks,
Roscoe

hmm..if the tractor's a 'keeper', go waterproof, unless the cost is much higher. Regular connectors with an inch of heatshrink will be close to waterproof...
I prefer to 'tin' the wire  THEN crimp then solder wire to crimp then heat shrink. Tinning of the wire makes all the strands into one and fills the voids between them, greatly reducing corrosion ( green copper...). soldering the wire to the connector seals and helps secure. heat shrink helps seal the wire sheath to the connector.
if you've ever rewired a trailer you know about 'water wicking' up the wires, inches maye feet...it corrodes the copper strands, turning them black or green...not allowing power through and failing.

Use connectors that fit the connection.  Use the same size wire that you are replacing.
