    Posted: 27 Nov 2019 at 7:35pm
Hi folks,

Theorizing a winter project.....am interested in dropping a Detroit 353 into something and the best thing I could come up with is a WD45 given I could easily flare the frame rails out around the engine as needed.

Anyone happen to have a tranny bellhousing exposed in their shop that could take some measurements? Inner diameter and outer diameter? Elsewhere it was posted that the frame rails are 19.25 wide on the outside. My 353 is an SAE4 and could easily make an adapter plate as required.

Much appreciated!

Krusty

You can shove a 13 inch outer diameter flywheel into the bellhousing. That much I am sure of.

Spring has arrived and some extra time to pull the engine out of the WD45 for the transplant. Is the WC front end the same as the WD? I have a wide front end on my 45 and located a narrow front end from a WC, and would grab it if it would fit.

The WC narrow front is a direct swap with the WD wide front.

I am in the process of swapping a small block chevy into a WD45.  I did up a CAD drawing for an adapter plate between the WD45 clutch housing and the GM block.  If you PM me your email address I'll share the drawing with you, you obviously don't need the GM side measurements but the Allis side might help.

Dogtriots are like HoundDog motorcycles, They're great at turning Fuel into noiseLOL
If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY
