First of all, I want to say thanks to everybody on this board. Through reading these threads, I've learned a ton about this little C and for a novice like me, this is quite a valuable resource!
The steering on my C has been very loose from the beginning so I tore everything down and am planning on replacing seals, bearings, bushings, etc. I'm trying to remove the segment gear from the front steering arm, but it won't budge. There was a set screw holding the gear to the shaft, which I was able to remove. The parts diagram shows a key between the segment gear and the shaft, but nothing else holding the two together, yet it still won't come off. Seeing as how this piece has spent most of it's life in grease and oil, I don't think rust is the issue. I'm wondering if I'm missing something. Appreciate any insight. |
