Spent the day ripping clay with a, cough, cough... Case dozer. Have always thought it would be nice to have one on my HD5B. Does anyone pics of one and how it mounts. Or if someone has built their own.

Guy out in Osseo Mn had about 6 of them HD5/6 rippers setting by shop years back -one day when I was out there they were gone - said scrap prices were up and they had set to long .
Mount onto back of machine where counterweight holes are and other drilled holes in rear case - a large plate about 1" thick then ripper bar and hydraulics mounted to it .

Was hoping someone would have a picture, that way I could maybe build my own. Was thinking maybe using ripper teeth like Agri Supply sells. Any idea how many it could pull?

My hd6's had room for 5 teath. I think I have 3 home made teeth laying around somewhere that I got from Clapp brothers in Illinois several years ago. If they would do you any good you can have them. I am about 45 miles S.W. of Des Moines, about 18 miles south of I 80. I would have to find them. Might have to let some of Ol Shameless snow melt before they become visible, I only have the heath.

Friend of mine had couple teeth made up that just pinned to a bracket on his dozer blade so rather than pulling teeth he pushed them .
He had it mounted on rubber tire dozer and would use a single tooth for ripping limerock and add shanks or remove them depending on how hard ground was or how fractured rock was .

I have recently acquired A-C HD 5 G sn# 15148.   The left hand steer clutch has about 3-4 inches of travel before it engages the throw out bearing.   The Right hand steer clutch has 6 inches of travel (all the way back) and does not feel like it engages the throw out. Could the steer clutch be frozen into the disengaged position. if so, can you field correct without teardown?

first off, welcome to the forum Ariceman. Thanks for the pic.

As to your question, probably best if you start a new topic, so it gets more views. Someone with more knowledge than me should be able to answer your question

first of all do the handles feel like they have pressure on them . I had the same thing happen to me on my right side, it ended up the key way had worked out so the shaft wasn't tuning. like above said though relist your question just for that and I'm sure some of these good old boys will help. some of these fellows on here really do know what there talking about.

Take off seat - remove covers over brake , look into case and see what is going on in there as far as throw of apparatus to release steering clutches .
Field repair or tear down in a shop ? Only way you will know is by looking deep within those cases to what is moving and what isn't
