Seen many warnings about not using resistor type plug wires with the magneto, and several recommendations to use "solid core" wires.    Are the non resistor wires consisting of several strands of conductor wire also bad for the magneto?  Does solid core mean one larger diameter single wire?   I understand the resistor issue but what is the deal with stranded centers?     Thanks

Solid core is the multi stranded stuff. Thats what makes it flexible. Otherwise it would e like house wire. I buy it on the roll at NAPA. They sell all the stuff to make nice OEM appearance wires but you will need the proper Molex crimpers.

As long as the plug wires are metal cored with no reister caps  all will be good..........

Confusion of terms commonly occurs here-  'modern' automotive wires are actually carbon-strand, and have resistance IN the wire.  You don't want that... nor do you want resistance in the spark plugs.  Resistance is employed to reduce radio frequency interference, however, adding resistance to ignition system means when the coil primary circuit is interrupted, voltage on the secondary side voltage has to rise farther, in order to cause the spark gap to be breached.  Higher secondary voltage is hard on the mag.

I'll second the motion on buying the roll... think I got mine at NAPA too... seems to me it was about $50 for the roll.
