I have a fork lift that the fuel pump does not keep up with the carb,when it starts to run out of gas I can use the hand primer and fill the carb and runs fine, new fuel pump same as old one, what runs pump inside the gas engine ,  mounted higher them the diesel it can not be on cam , does it use a rod ? can not  feel it hitting anything when I hand pump it and running

Easiest fix would prolly be an electrical pump, with adjustable output...

foggy memory on the pump - had the same thing with engine pump on my TLB but installing a new pump solved the problem - can't remember how the pump was driven .
Thought it was just long arm that rode on cam lobe.
