I just bought a 77G rake that is in pretty good condition. Should be in usable condition. I gave $150 for it. It has an assortment of rubber mounted teeth. Didn't it come with steel teeth with a mounting clip?

That looks like a decent rake.......is equipment getting cheaper in Texas? Lots of equipment is long hauled from here in Kansas by Texas dealer buyers

This rake was an exception price wise. The seller started out at $325. There is a 78 rake in Brownwood Tx that they want $1200 for. It's a little nicer. I took another look at the rake teeth and notice about half of them were installed backwards. The guy that sold the rake had a 180 with a 500 loader that his dad bought new. He gat a trip to Milwaukee out of it. I couldn't talk him out of the loader.

Glad you picked that up Joe, think I seen that one listed in S-ville. I don't recall if the one we had in the 70's was a 77 or 78 but definitely rubber mounted tines and they held up good on 15-20K small squares a year. When the original "knobby" tires were used up, we replaced them with car snow tires only to find it did not work worth a darn. Put a new set of tires like the ones that came on it new and it made all the difference in heavy timothy mixed with alfalfa. Think we only ever changed the belt once in the nearly 20 years we had it and the rope operated clutch never gave an issue. Matched great with a D15, made nice even windrows and the rubber mounted tines were good for pulling up old windrows that had been rained on heavily.

Search for Traction Implement tire. Prices are all over the map. I bought 6 Goodyears last year. Some use old car/truck tires. Not enough traction for me. Some use tractor tires, mounted backwards. Seems like that may work. And you save a few bucks. I am happy with the Goodyears.

I just bought a set of the "knobby tires" for my 78 rake...they are 5.00-15...Firestone still has them...they were about $95 each not mounted...took a week or so to get.

Looks like the same rubber tines that was on our hay kicker that we used to use when we grew alfalfa.
