Having clutch and pressure plate and torque tube laying around was the last deal. This after noon I started mowing the front yard when the fan belt started to smoke and then spit out the side. The generator seized up. I found an old narrow belt about the correct size and after looking around I found a generator with a narrow pulley. I sprayed the adjustable fan belt pulley with WD40 and went in to eat supper. I came out and loosened the two nuts, took a large blunt screw driver and after a few whacks with a large hammer it tracked back tight in the center. I had to place 3/4" of washers behind and find a longer bolt to make the belt tightener work. Took the old girl out a 9 PM and mowed the rest of the front lawn.

the wife complains about all the junk I have laying around, but when something breaks and all I have to do is find the part (which could take all day....lOl).  then she don't mind it.  ya can never have to many spare parts around....and a good knowledge of how to rig things together helps..Smile
Just cause it's orange don't make it a tractor, there's only one..Allis Chalmers

I call it the "healing shelf" because you never know what you might need to make the piece of equipment you're working on all better.

I call my mine "home" LOL Just about everywhere you look there could be "junk" that I might be able to use to fix something. Just yesterday I used an old wheel barrow wheel that's been laying on the shelf in the shed to fix up an old 3 point rake.

I'll start with the last first. The adjustable water pump pulley that some have problems with. As I stated before I take them apart when rusted together with heat and tapping with a hammer as I apply heat. I then sand until I can slide them in and out before assembly. You can see by the picture where it moved from.

The old belt is a little long and most likely will not last the summer.

This is how I stabilize the tractor when splitting it. I have it off the ground on the jack stands.

I use the engine lift to pull the engine away.

The sheared cotter key.

Where the drive shaft splines were stripped.

The drive shaft I used as a replacement.

Replaced the cotter key with a grade eight bolt.

Back together with different torque tube.

Almost forgot-- The old torque tube. I think I broke it taking it off.
