Recently acquired a snap coupler disk plow. Got it on the '45 and tried it out. Two of the three disks didn't want to turn by hand. Worked a little bit in the ground. Tried to get them loosened up by hand and plow with them again. Still don't turn very freely. Anyway, pretty neat implement and will keep working on the disks, which are a little over 25" in diameter. Any suggestions on how to get them loosened up? Here are some pix. Dave

Dave, those are real good plows. I have a 2 gang for my D12. Athens made them here in TN. Those disc turn on heavy roller bearings. I think yours will have a big cup on rear that holds grease. Could be pitted or damaged from water. I need a new tail wheel hub and bracket if you know of one. Thanks Tracy

So, Tracy, do I need to somehow get into the big cup and get to the grease in it to loosen things up? I don't see any zerks or such in the area.

check the bottoms of the bearings, if someone let the discs wear down, the bearing housing, and cap can wear out, letting water in.  THat one looks real good, discs are 26" new, also tail wheel looks pristine, if that wears out, the plow is damn near uncontrollable with lots of side draft. Dave, pretty sure that cap unscrews, RH threads. It will let you get to bearings for packing grease.Only one I ever seen fail was on an IH plow we had when I was about 8 years old, been a while. I will give mine a closer look this weekend, and let you know. Thanks Tracy

Put it in the ground and go. It will free up fast. Old grease gets hard. Have a two and a three bottom. Great plows
