    Posted: 18 Apr 2010 at 7:48pm
I'm in need of some assitance.... I'm trying to help out a guy I know who owns a sawmill with an Allis power unit that operates it. Neither of us really know what size this engine is. There is an ID tag on the clutch housing that says PU 22959, and it has 4-17 cast into the block. The manifold has rusted out and we are trying to either buy or build one.
Can anyone tell me what size this engine is, and a good place to buy a manifold? The manifold has the number AM2821-1 on it. Thanks for any assistance you can offer.

I don't have any pictures here. I'll have to see if I can get some the next time I'm over there. It's a big 4  cyl. I'd say about 5' long from the radiator to the clutch. Definitly old. It has a hand crank and starter.

From the diamond on the radiator support, I'd say Fred Lucabaugh would be able to give you a hint,or some help.

So, it's a U-40 Power unit? 40hp? Thanks a lot for the help. I'll also go to the farm equipment section and ask them. I wasn't sure which section I should use.
