Allis-Chalmers 1937 WC w/ Oxbow Front End

Hello Everyone,

I am from Northern Utah. My Dad (passed away a few years ago) restored this 1937 WC to use and to put in tractor shows (my dad grew up in Southeast Idaho on a dairy farm that used WC's). I am wanting to honor my father's memory and show off his hard work. 
I helped him as a teenager to install the oxbow front end and prep for paint. I have used the tractor to plow, disc, and harrow a couple of small gardens and have driven it in a few parades with other antique tractors.
My dad usually took care of the mechanical issues that ever came up and always knew the solution to fix or address them.
Currently the ol' girl runs like a top and I would like to keep it that way. We have made sure to maintain the fluids and grease all the zerks.
I guess I'm reaching out for any information that you guys could share about the WC as far as maintenance, gotcha's, what to look out for's, tips & tricks, and any of the like.
Also, my dad told us that the Oxbow front end was more of a collector's item rather than a functional piece. I seem to remember him mentioning that there weren't that many made due to the fact that it would knock over the corn stalks or something. 
If you guys have any info on this, please share and it would be awesome!

	Check fluid in final drives. Fill and level plug is just below the rear axle on both sides.

	I definitely see why that front end would be a hindrance to any type of cultivation of any crop that has height to it Was the front end just to get away from a tricycle front end? Reminds me of a few years ago when we purchased a JD 6500 sprayer with tricycle front end just to fungicide corn with all my neighbors said it wouldn’t work but works great We didn’t want to spend money to have it flown on or sprayed with a hagie type sprayer

	Good looking tractor! Does anyone know when the WC wide front was first offered? I always wondered if AC put it out there with the idea that it would help sell tractors in the "wheatland" parts of the country where fixed wide front ends were more common (i.e. IH W-series, JD D, etc. tractors) but that would only make sense if that front end was first available before the WF came out. As mentioned above it is not very useful for row crop cultivation - very little clearance and no adjustability for row spacings.

	Thanks for the feedback! my dad had a couple jugs of fluid for the finals to keep topped off. unfortunately, the labels have worn off... and I think they have since been thrown away. I have looked around for specs but can't see what type of fluid the finals need for the year, make, model. What fluid should be used on the finals?

	My dad found the oxbow front end sitting in an old timers shed somewhere out in the boonies. He had never seen one before and did some research (possibly research on this site) about the front end and just thought it would be cool and unique to add to his tractor. So, the switch was purely cosmetic and for show.

	I have a couple WF's which are very similar to the WC. If I am not mistaken, they called for 400 weight gear oil in the final drives. I, personally, use John Deere Corn Head Grease in the final drives, 80-90 in the transmission and 10w-30 oil in the engine. You have a beautiful old unstyled WC. Around here, the (true) wide front WC's are like hen's teeth. Take good care of it!

	You can certainly use 80/90 wt in those final drives, but it will probably leak out and make a mess wherever you park it. Corn head gearbox grease would be better for that.
