Does anybody offer the rubber block tread pads any longer? This HD-5G has the remnants of them bolted to the street track pads. A few of them have the remainder of the rubber remaining but it's been a long time since they could be called functional. What they actually were didn't even cross my mind till I noticed a chunk of rubber still mounted to one of the pads:
![]() Machine does have the two speed reversing transmission which seems to work well. The right steering clutch was not really stuck but just starting to get that way but with a few iterations it seems to be fine. Main clutch is aggressive when it engages. This will probably smooth out with usage also. Have both lifting cylinders seeping/leaking, but not really bad. Once I get some free time I'll remove and break them down for reseal. Most hoses are needing replaced with a couple having well rusted braid showing. Chrome rods seem to be in usable condition and in reality, all cylinders will be resealed at the same time. A single group 31 starting battery is sufficient to start the machine but I need to make a battery box cover as original is long lost. Right battery box has a plywood cover, and the operator seat is a Bostrom T-Bar series which actually works. Haven't really done anything with the machine at all other than move it around. It was devoid of hydraulic oil when checked and I dumped five gallons into the reservoir and shortly therafter discoverd the equalizer tube between the left, and right reservoir is needing replaced. Not enough space to place a drain pan, but was enough oil to prove the hydraulic system functional in all aspects. I left the bucket chained up as I plan to retrieve by backing onto my skid steer trailer next week sometime.

Casual walkaround shows many of the track pads are in bad condition, usable, but bad shape. Many are worn very thin where the lead and lag edges of the pads come together around the idlers and sprockets. Though I've not done any measuring, the chains appear to be good and sprockets are good and thick. Rollers are all free and don't seem to be leaking, or loose on shafts. Little wear on the bushings a,nd chains are nowhere near fully adjusted out. Almost like newer chains than the tractor but reused pads? Former rubber pads affix with four fasteners to the street pads. Several fasteners loose I've found so will pull tracks and replace all fasteners for further evaluation.
Clipped into the backhoe power shuttle, and clutch apply circuit(s). Testing reveals the torque converter is defective, or failing. Should have 60psi discharge pressure on ports and barely making 12 - 15psi. Plenty of hydraulic flow but stall speed is virtually non existent. Main hydraulic pump is barely making any pressure either so clutches are slipping from lack of clamping force. Heat comes up fast under full throttle with brakes held.
