Mechanic around the corner fixed the AC in my 6080 today....just needed recharged and he bypassed the switch in the pump. Anyone know why they used 2 pressure switches? Make me feel bad I didn't look into it 5 years ago when I got the tractor. Couldn't wait for a new gasket for the cab lid, so went to HD and bought 20' of 1/2" round weatherstripping and tucked it under the outside edge as I put the bolts back in. Seems to work fine. Anyone know the NAPA number for the cab filter? Now I just have to switch out the rear tires/wheels and should be set to go bush hoggin in the heat!

One pressure switch is in the high pressure side of the AC system to prevent blowing the pump up if the filter drier or expansion valve get plugged. The second switch is in the low pressure side to prevent the compressor from running if there isn't enough refrigerant in the system to prevent the pump from losing it's oil and seizing along with just simply running with no productivity due to the lack of refrigerant.

You absolutely want the switch on the high side working. A blockage after the condenser will make both sides low pressure wise. The high pressure limit is there to save you from blowing a high side hose in the event the condenser gets full of chaff, weeds, etc or the fan clutch free wheels. It depends on which type of switch the low side is. If it's a thermostatic type or a cycling clutch type you need them working as well. Without either of them you will have the evaporator freeze the condensation and you won't have much for air flow in the cab.

They sure are. If I was to guess which one is bypassed I'd bet it is the high side. Keep the condenser and radiator good and clean.

Yes it was the high side located in the pump. Where could I get a new one and what does it take to replace it?

I got the high side switch from agco eldon. Then go back to your buddy and have him suck it out and it's real easy to change out. If its the same compressor as mine.

Yes Bill we are going for a record of 90+ days....hot, dry and dirty mowing these days....I am still using the 175D in the mornings, but need AC in the afternoon.

Yup mine came with new oring and may have come with snap ring to. Your A C guy should have some oil that goes in the system, oil it up when you put it in

The switch is operated by refrigerant pressure, so the refrigerant will have to be removed before changing the switch and then the refrigerant will have to be put back in.

Darrel, Remember in my day we did not have air conditioning. In the home, on the vehicles, and especially not on the tractors. You know, when I went out on a hot day I always asked if the unit could move. If it could we moved it to the shade. Especially the combines. One of my toughest jobs - and I got it since I was the youngest and smallest - was crawling inside a combine, especially with wong barley barbs - to unplug something in the hot sun. Survived, but now really appreciate air conditioning. Good Luck! Bill Long

some preasure switches do have a valve core behind them so that you can change them out with out dischargeing the system probley not on that tractor but a lot of autos do

Yep, a snap ring holds them in place. Just need to recover the refrigerant before you try to take it out. Get a new O ring to seal it in the bore. The new switch from GM will have a 2 pin switch to replace the original single pin and a new pigtail connector.

Got the seal "kit" for the cab top yesterday...kinda disappointed as all it is is a roll of weatherstripping I could have gotten at the hardware store....
