Are you talking about the high low range lever on the right hand side or the power director buttons on the floor?

If the power director shafts seized together then it wouldn't turn in high or low. Did the high low range lock up, or the power director lock up in high. The power director only locking on one side, I wouldn't know off hand how that could happen unless the two driven hubs in the clutch pack got messed up. I haven't had the range portion apart before to know how that works for sure to offer any guidance there.

Most of the time, when the Power Director shafts weld themselves together, the low side shaft twists off. So, when you drive the tractor, it is always in high range regardless of where the buttons are placed....... been there...dun that.

Range transmission seizure. Complete teardown of the rear end and torch the gear off of the pinion shaft...a pretty big deal.

Not sure what "locks up trans" means...that range shift is in the rearend behind the transmission.Sounds like somehow the range gets caught in both hi & lo when in hi position.
DrAllis, what causes shaft welding in PD's?Low oil?

Will bolt right up, but maybe a couple of hydraulic lines are different. Must be a Power Director 7060 to get correct gearing. Power Director transmission hollow input shafts that seize together can be bearings getting loose from wear and low oil or combination of the two. Range trans seizure is different and doesn't happen a lot but is catastrophic when it does occur.

Dirty oil is a big cause for both PD and range gear to seize. Never saw either to happen on any ones tractor that kept oil clean. Fill tube loose in range transmission can get a lot of dirt in one. Operator pulls dipstick, tube comes out and dirt that is piled up around tube falls in. Plus there is a gallon of oil in range transmission that don't drain out when drained unless you suck it out through fill tube. MACK
