Hey all. I have acquired an AC ED40 tractor and the bearings went out of the right rear wheel. This allow the axle gear to drop and smash out the cast gear housing. Now I need to get a replacement. Anyone have any ideas on where I might be able to find one. Thanks Canadian Allis

What is "smashed out"? Is it an area that supports a bearing? There are some WAY awesome epoxies out there and can hold up as well as steel or cast iron.

Thanks
Unfortunately a part of the housing is missing lost along the way. There are about 4 small pieces and the main housing but with that one piece missing I'm thinking it would be difficult to epoxy or even try to weld back into place.

is the ED40 right rear axle housing the same as a D-14 ?

If so I got one here I would part with....

No no no!  ED40 is a completely different French made tractor.  Nothing like the D14.  Parts are hard to find, not many around, not very popular.
However, I have seen a scrapped out ED40 tractor at Lindsay Used Tractor parts (Google them).  Been there a long time and parts are scattered around.  Best to go there in person.  Those guys don't know what they have there!  Hope this helps.

Hey Everyone. Thanks for the help. I was able to find the housing, hope to have it this weekend and it is only about an hour away. So here's hoping it is good shape. I'll let you know. Thanks

ED40 was made in Essendine, England in the 60's. With 4 cylinder Standard diesel engine. They were similar in appearance to the D14. Don't know if any parts interchanged. They were basically an update to the D272 that was built in the same plant.
