Looking for a space heater to replace the smoke-belching Knipco torpedo heater. I like the premise and looks of these new infra-red diesel heaters. Do they live up to the hype? Thinking it would work good for thawing cold tractors or maybe even the sides of the manure spreader when it's -10?

My $0.02 is if it burns diesel it will smell like diesel. I have a propane unit, just for that reason. Yes, I do have a couple of 30# tanks and usuallly have to get them refilled occasionally. If I'm close to the shed where the large tank for the dryer is, I just run a hose in the shop. - AL

I went to propane ones too. Airhose quick connect on the tank makes them easier to handle. Tank in one hand, heater in the other, cord over your shoulder.
Only bad thing about the propane is their is no topping off a half a tank. Gotta bring another tank along.
