Hello everyone.
Has anyone installed air conditioning in a factory none ac tractor. Have a 200 with factory cab but didn’t originally have ac. But has heater core and fan in cab roof.
I kinda thought get the brackets from salvage yard to mount compressor on engine then for in cab stuff get like a kit for hot rod. And put in place of where heater is in roof.
Or go crazy with fully in closed unit on roof for like a RV.
Thanks

Sometimes they put the air conditioner condenser right behind the heater and never hooked it up if that brand had the option for ac.
My Dads JD 4320 has a HINIKER cab that had the option but it was never hooked up on his.

the roof mounted AC for trucks / tractors seemed like a good idea to me.. They pull 60 amps at 12v supply... no need for a mounted compressor... just need a BIG alternator... ??
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

I’ll have to do some research.
Thank you

There was a 200 at hutch a couple years ago with air conditioning. The owner said that it did not have factory air, and they swapped out the whole cab for one with factory air. Said that swapping the whole cab was easier then putting AC into the non AC cab. Not sure what all it entails, but that's just this owners perspective on it.

This sounds easier than a cab swap to me. The box on top of the cab was the only air you could get on the early combine cabs that made it out here. Was not an electric compressor, which sound way easier.  In our 90 plus degree days sitting a glass box without air is crazy, tractor or combine.

The rooftop AC units that you on top of RV’s operate off 120v ac power, via and ‘onboard generator’
I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

Thank you.
Maybe that wasn’t a good example to use.

I have recently been looking into the same sort of a setup, for a New Holland 1048 in my case. I haven't bought anything yet but found a split system on Amazon that puts out 8000 BTUs. It pulls 50 amps, so it would require an alternator upgrade along with a matching wiring upgrade. The condensor/compressor unit would be a little unsightly on a tractor though. There are larger one-piece units available but I think they would be overkill for a tractor cab.
I am still looking, if I find a small one-piece roof unit I will post it here.
