Im wanting to hook the generator on my series 1 d17 for neg ground my voltage regulator says pos or neg round. What all wiring to i have to change? Reason is its a diesel and have to use factory gen for power steering

The factory generator will work for both positive and negative ground. Just need to change around some wires in the wiring harness - switch the battery cables and wires on back of the ammeter. Once that is done, flash the generator by shorting the BAT and GEN terminals on the regulator. A few more wires to switch around on gassers but nothing really hard. I have all of mine switched to negative ground on original generators.

Absolutely flash before starting the tractor after changing the battery polarity. If you start it without flashing the generator will build with the old polarity and likely fry the voltage regulator when it's cut out closes with the battery and generator of opposite polarities. Worse than a short on the battery and the generator.
