Been thinking about one of those, too. Have seen some really cool videos of farming stuff.
sometimes I walk out to my shop and look around and think "Who's the idiot that owns this place?"

I have really been thinking about getting one lately. I would think that $1000 is way to much, and $200 way to cheap. Would love to be able to see what is going on on the other side of the creek without driving down and unlocking the gate.......or sit uphill and view the drone.

I think these new drones are great for people that have big farms , ranches to be able to check on the outlying areas and would sure be some good theft deterents ,,,,,but you gotta be careful you don't "infringe" on your neighbor's privacy,,,,,cause he/she may NOT want you to be "spying" on them or their "activities",,,,!!
I know here there are some harsh words being said bout some people using these drones to "scout" for deer that is upsetting others that feel that gives them an unfair advantage over others,,,,,,I'm wonderin how the Game&Fish people are goin to address this,,,,,???

I'm guessing the govt. will start slapping regulations on them, ya know how that'll go, once they start regulating they'll never stop.

I'm still waiting for the one with thermal imaging and armed with a mini 14. Now that would be useful.

I seen on the news were a fella shot one down, it ended up being a government drone.  I guess the fella said his daughter were in there bathing suits and the drone just stayed there, thinking it was a nut job running it and they were looking at his daughters he shot it down.  The arrested him, not sure whats going on with it now.

I WANT one, but I also want infrared capabilities. Think of the possibilities if a child is lost out in nomans land. I read an article about searching crop land for troubles that need spraying. And then there is the ultimate coyote hunter!

I just put thermal on mine in addition to the color, I'm with the CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) team in my county and wanted it for potential search and rescue along with using it for crop scouting.  The thermal route I went was about as cheap as you can get with good enough clarity and that part alone cost about $2500.

oh no. You have things sort of like drones spying on you. They called satellites, and fly high enough that you can't see them. Darrel

Went in for a visit discussing tax status as advised I had to "wait five years" for ag status on land I purchased a few years back, and even homestead status, "official" asked if cows were on property that was grandfathered in. When he showed me their latest satellite shot and asked where the cows were, did not like it when I told him they were in the trees and I also pointed out the viewing was dated. Actually told him the approximate date of the shot because of season (lack of leaves), vehicle in driveway that I no longer drove and where I used to put out round bales.
Grew up where they simply drove the roads and looked for cattle and folks would get busted by bad fences that were a dead giveaway.
Eventually had status changed by trying again the next year and the prior fella had been removed from his position. New rep. dropped the bomb that they were buying drones to both verify cattle on property, plus look at burn piles where folks were adding feed sacks and/or house garbage on burn piles where only "organics" are allowed.
Nothing you can do about gov't drones as they will always have "just cause" to use them.
They have many good uses but when it comes to who owns the air above a property, "they" will ALWAYS win . . . .
