We are lettering a old semi truck we repainted. We thought it would be fun to match it up with the logos from a 1940's Allis Chalmers advertising book. Is this the right shade of blue?

David, the idea is great and it looks good but I think the blue was more navy blue; as pictured it looks as if it has too much royal blue in it.

Yeah it was a darker blue, almost black. My neighbor has an old All Crop drill that is all original with the blue decals and they look just like this.

Looks good to me and the original paint is almost impossible to replicate because the original paint was lead paint.

We had to do something to spruce up this old truck. We just use it in the fall pulling a hopper bottom between farms and back to the bins. But now it might haul a tractor to a show or two?
Poor old Paystar, it was ugly even when it was new. Whoever the former owner was that installed a new crate engine from Cummins in it in 2004 must not have done the math on the economics of paystar resale value! ![]() |

I am thinking the correct police won't like that international no mater what you do with the decals..... lol. To each his own but I think those IH trucks look better red or white.

You could always get an Allis Chalmers strip off something like a D15 to replace the IH one.

Or just add the A-C strip under the International one....
IMHO (or, ....on my screen) the blue color that you were looking at looks really nice ,even if it isn't quite the original A-C color. |

I was just trying to figure out where to put the cream on it. Maybe the grill... but some nice cream highlights would help with the ac look.... I have nothing against what you are doing with it just found the decal color question funny.

Don't know if the colour is correct but it looks awesome. So does the old paystar!!!! LOL. That truck with the Cummins will last forever unlike the new stuff that runs 2 days and then spends 2 weeks in shop. And 1 visit to shop will cost more than that complete truck. You will look good coming to shows etc. And everyone will recognize you a mile away. :-)
And like Creston said don't forget the hyphen. LOL.

We actually originally painted the wheels/hubs cream and it really looked bad. For some reason, it just didn't look right. I'm wondering now about painting the grill blue to match the letters? Or cream pinstripes? |

I am not surprised the wheels looked wrong cream. It would be kind of wimpy on a tuff truck. I tried to picture the fenders cream but can't see it working. I like the pin striping idea and maybe the black outline around the grill. The grill looks big to be cream bit then I thought that on my d15 until after I got it painted and liked it. The grill only behind the black in cream might look good sort of like the black bars on some of the d serries.
