Were there B's that didn't have a PTO? If so is it possible to add a PTO, and what would it take to get it done?

Yes quite a few of the earlier ones had a block off plate where the PTO attaches. All B's have the PTO drive stub shaft and installing a PTO is as easy as obtaining the unit and a hand full of bolts. The onlt (slight) difficulty is you have to be certain the shifting collar installs correctly. The PTOs are available with or without the hydraulic pump, good time to make that upgrade also.

In fact, all B's and C's new came through without PTO or Hydraulics. That was installed at the dealership. It was my job for quite a while.
You may want to get a PTO with a 1 3/8" drive since the very early PTO's were 1 1/8" The larger PTO fits many more units. Best to do when new. Also, as suggested above might as well install a hyd pump too. Will save a lot of time later. Take good care of my favorite. Good Luck! Bill Long Edited by Bill Long - 14 Mar 2017 at 4:15pm |
