I have a 7040 that transfers the oil out of the power shift into the diff I had read there is a plug you can take out and the oil can transfer freely between the two but I don't know where the plug is can anyone help me out

Fix the problem, don't put a bandage on it. They operate at different levels.
 First place to look if it transfers oil while running, is gear pump. While pumps are out, replace seal on shaft that drives pump.    MACK

Mack is correct.  When the seal totally lets go - it could drop pressure to tranny clutch..if the pump, clutch has some wear.. the gpms on the geroter pump aint all that great to start with...

Thank you guys The dealer I bought it from replaced the seal before I got it and it didn't work when I pulled it apart he had bent the seal putting it in so I replaced the seal on the shaft again but it still didn't fix it I only use the tracker to bake 15 acres of hay a year so I can't really justify putting a bunch of money in it Does anyone know anything else to try that isn't to expensive

Mack or the DR can correct me if I'm wrong but these are the ones I had to do to one of mine.  I have been taking pictures of the work I have done on them, digital cameras are great.  Pumps all work great, just didn't want to take apart all the way when I didn't have a problem.  This is the front seal on the gear pump, just drilled a small hole and pulled out with the slide hammer.

This is the seal on the pump drive shaft, the coupler just slides off.  Same thing drilled a small hole and slide hammer out.  I have only put about 30 hours on it since, oil level has been perfect........So far.  Before just setting there was a noticeable transfer of oil.  Both the seals rubber were hard as a rock.
