Topic: Anyone Ever Use CO-OP Fuel & Oil Filters?Posted: 06 Feb 2017 at 2:04pm |

Our Tractor club was just donated a large amount of N.O.S CO-OP oil and fuel filters from a bulk fuel company that is going out of business. We are trying to cross-reference the numbers to see what they all fit. We found writing on some of the boxes indicating that they fit Allis, Mini-Mo, IH, and Oliver's. We are not sure who manufactured these. Were these good filters??

Used to use them, thought they were good but now old. I had a couple someone gave me but I won't use them, just on a shelf with some of my AC stuff for display.

The filter material drys and becomes brittle and you know what that could lead to.

Yikes....
That's too bad about filters getting old and not being good anymore. If they look cool, take an old filter, hollow out the insides and cut the bottom, then slip it over a new filter. Vintage looks, modern performance! I have a buddy that did that with an old A-C filter. I would've never known it was a cover-up if he hadn't showed me.

We're going to cut a couple open and see what they look like inside. We hate to fill up more landfill space, or send them to China as scrap.
We did find a couple of "sock-type" filters. Cross-reference says the fit Minni-Mo early letter series, G750/850, and Oliver 1650-1955T tractors. CO-OP #'s COS149 & CO5454.

I have some Cenex Filters dating back to 2008 and I cut a few apart and they were fine. I have boxes of them so every year I'll sacrifice one from a box and if good use them for the year. Mine pretty much just fit the Full Flow D series gas tractors.

Jim. I was in the fuel and oil business for 15 years. I have seen the results of using old filters. Do what you want with them but I assure you I would not use them.
