 Topic: WD 45 Air Cleaner seal

So I took the air cleaner off the WD 45 last week. Took it all apart, dumped the sludge out of the cup, cleaned everything, and primed it for paint. It was all in pretty good shape except for the flat seal that goes between the oil cup and the main body of the cleaner. That's old, smashed, and broken. It's only broken in one spot but there's oil and crap on the side of the tractor right below the cleaner. Leads me to believe it's been leaking. I've tried to find a replacement with nothing to show for my trouble. Anybody got any ideas? Part numbers? Easy fixes?

I think a 2 series not sure off the diameter

There's supposed to be a seal there?? That would explain why mine gets so oily too

I think I cut one or two from a piece of thick cork gasket material. Getting old cant remember!:)

I may end up cutting one myself too. If I can find the patience for it that is. Speaking of gaskets, I've been meaning to change the engine oil . I figure since I don't know how long it's been in there I should probably drop the pan and clean out any buildup that might be in there. Am I correct in assuming that cork is the generally approved material for a new gasket? This seems like a silly question to me but I'm not the best mechanic that ever turned a wrench. I'd like to learn from people who know more than me.

Actually, we made a new seal the other day. But as we were inspecting the cup that hold the oil we discovered the real reason it was leaking. There was a hole in the side of the cup right about where the snap ring sits. It was above the oil level but the oil was still able to slosh out. Sealed it with some permatex, I think that's all it'll take to plug it up.

It's supposed to be a cork seal. I measured mine today and it looks like 5.5" diameter. I called Sandy lake and they are available but they are not ordering them anymore. They had a note made that they were cut too short and thus a tad to small. I'm going to try to find a big oring

Brad,
Doing the engine oil pan gasket without pulling the engine is possible. Just not as easy. Take a look at Don(mo)'s video. I have done two in the tractor, with pretty good success. There are some tricks and thing to do and not do. I would recommend a set of gaskets from a supplier on here. Then take your time.
