OK, I blew a head gasket in my 19D at a show this past summer. It was my own fault, I didnt have the counter bores reset when I went through the engine the first time. I wont make that mistake again.
I think I found a source for liners with a .020 thicker flange as those liners from AGCO are NLA(although the std liners are still available from AGCO) My question is I was poking around the AGCO parts books and they list gas, diesel, and LP as all using the same part number block. Could I find a D19 gas block and put my diesel head on it and make it a diesel? If so does anyone have a gas 19 block they are willing to part with?

I wouldn't bet the bank that a gas block will have the standout you need.

Don, yes the gas,LPG and Diesel blocks are the same and you can look for a gas block out of a C, CII, or even an earlier F Gleaner and there's two or three more ways to get your D19 back up and running again. If you-ed like some free advise on how I rebuild them old D19's just send me a PM and I'll try helping you out.

Did the early 262 blocks have the water pump on the head like the 230? we just picked up a good used motor for our 19D project, and when my dad and brother got it home we noticed it has water pump on head not the block. no place on block for water pump and no boss for turbo oil return.
this motor was in a 17, it had the front and rear D17 plates. single upside down cannister oil filter.

our donor engine came from a D17. we are going to get another block for our D19, just trying to figure out what we have, so someone else may be able to use it. the block is good and and still complete so trying to verify if this was an early 17 motor or a 230 block and head into a d17

The early 262's in D17 Diesel's had the water pump in the head like the WD45 Diesels, the early D17 G-262 blocks are not the same block as WD45's B-230 used, just share the water pump in the head. There was three diff blocks used in the A Gleaner gas combines, two of them used a 230 that had the water pump in the head but the later A's and all AII's gas powered combines used a G-230 with the water pump in the block just like the later D17 Diesel and all the D19's gas or Diesel but with a smaller bore. And the Diesel A's used the G-262 blocks.

thanks Don. I will get some pictures this afternoon and see if we can clear it up. Was one of those things we did not catch until we started tearing it down so we could prep it.

It looks like your question has been answered that the gas block is the same as the diesel. It may be worth a try to replace the head bolts with ARP head studs before changing out the liners. I actually just ordered a set direct from ARP for around $220 for one of my D19s. I found a listing for them when I searched this forum.

Have a spare block out of a D19 gas. I can bring it to the swap meet in Boonville. Send me a PM if you interested in it. Matt
