I have two nice planters I need to sell.  One is a #56 four row planter.  It has runner openers, fiberglass fertilizer boxes, fiberglass seed hoppers, nice implement tires.  Was used this spring and worked great.  We put out soybeans in two patches and sweet corn in another patch.  I am asking $400 for it.  The other is a #55 four row planter.  It is runner opener as well, but it has cleaning discs on it to push trash away.  Fiberglass seed boxes and metal fertilizer boxes.  I have never used it, but the folks I got it from used it to put sweet corn in with.  Asking $350 for it.  Both are in nice shape.  Both are set up for 30" rows

I am interested in the IH56 planter.

  1. Is the auger in the fertilizer box in good shape and is the fertilizer sysem intact and dispense?
2. What is a runner opener? Is this different than disc openers?
3. Is this a pull behind planter with hydraulics to raise and lower?
4. Does it have closing wheels?

One fertilizer auger looks good the other is shot.  I have never used the fertilizer system and in fact it is missing the fertilizer disc openers.  Around here no one uses fertilizer like that anymore, so most planters that had it had it pulled off and junked.  Most people just have the fertilizer dealer broadcast it.  Yes runner openers are different than disc openers.  I am not sure how to describe them though.  Think of a wedge that slides through the soil and opens it up.  Yes it is a pull type planter with hydraulic lift.  It has a press wheel on the back.  Not really the modern v-style closing wheels, but does a pretty good job in worked soil.

  Hope that answers your questions.
Thanks
Adam

Just moving this up a bit. If no one is interested on here I may take them to Groff Auction in Lawrenceville. Any idea what they would bring at auction? Thanks
