   What I could remember was squat as we had two of these at Mississippi Lime Quarries as stockpile pushers.  Had inline six intl and were HUGE. 
   
  What I could dig up was power shift, DT817 International engine, 270+ hp dependent on accessories and build date. Parts are damn near to impossible to find tractor or engine. Sounds like My Allis!! The quarry tractors were like the Eucs, ancient and dragged out, almost nothing left when the quarries were bought out most machines ended up under the gas axe.    The only Hough loaders/dozers I've been around were the V12 Cummins ones.  The 970 weighed something like 60 tons and the tyres were about 6 foot 6 high.  Massive is the only word. 
   
  That was an example of what happens when bean counters panic. A big mining operation here had just reconditioned it from sneezer to breezer, supposedly $A 48,000 on the engine alone. The company got hit with a mining slump just then and the order went out to cut it up. A couple of blockes here got the tip and rescued it. Another had an oil line fail around the articulation, caught fire and the operator had to jump through the flames from the platform.  |

   The IHC DT 817 seems to be their anomaly engine, limited use almost strictly the Hough loaders/dozers and TD25's of IHC.
