 Topic: Gleaner N5 can't get clean sample in corn

Having a lot of issues trying to get a clean corn sample on my 85 N5, Concave set to 3/4" Air setting is 7. Chaffer opening has been set from 1/2" to 5/8" no difference, bottom sieve quite open, still getting lots of fotter in the bin, loss is low, its like the fan is not working correctly but i can feel the air blast from behind, anything else I can try? oh and its got brand new accelerator rolls.

Need a little more info. Head size,speed, etc. If fodder, what happens when you close the Chaffer? Air is a big deal, is the fan clean?

Some varieties combine cleaner than others.

You haven't been too specific as to how far the bottom sieve is open, ,but you sort of imply that it's open quite a ways. Close it down until you get a clean sample. Darrel

Is there a shield out of place or rusted though? Climb over the shoe and look at the tin in front. 2 years ago we had this issue in our R-62. If its open in front of the shoe trash will fall right on the clean grain auger. Only takes 5 mins to check.

it sounds like the sieve is open too far. Close it down a little.
Also, make sure ALL shields are in place, including the front one beside the feederhouse. the transverse rotary Gleaner moves a massive amount of air and can suck trash into the fan if all shields are not in place.
Refer to the operators manual for the location of the shields.
