Have local show with plow day every other year. Renners Belleville, IL. I have taken 6 bottom IH 710 plow. Getting alot of bigger tractors and not enough ground to plow. Would like to work down plow ground. What would you suggest and width? Dad is thinking about selling cultimulcher. Haven't used in 5 years. 32 foot Field Cultivator and 25 foot Disc we have is to big for 210. Could buy 32 foot crumbler for Field Cultivator or pull behind harrow. Would this work at plow day? Looked a little on Facebook for cheap disc or field cultivator.

I always thought plow days were for 2 and 3 bottoms so everyone would be able to spend a few hours in the seat having fun, not for a bunch of big stuff getting it done in half an hour.

6 bottom is small plow at show. It's similar to Rantoul. Alot of 4x4 tractors.

I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

I've never been there but from the videos I have seen the plow days the Renner's put on is a big horsepower show. An 8550 or 4-305 would fit in there. They could plow a section or 2 that day. Leave an 80 for the little tractors.

Depends a lot on the venue. There are 3 plow days close enough to me to drive a rig to and all three have enough acres to run pretty big stuff. The one, the owner/host uses Big Buds/Stiegers and other large tractors with BIG plows. There are other smaller events where 3 bottom max is the rule.

That pretty good sized. We(were I was a farmhand years ago) had a 14 ft, either it was a Brillion or Kewaunee brand. Pulled that with a IH 826, usually in H1 wot, just to try and stay ahead of the 4 row corn planter. Bossman called that thing ‘the checkbook buster’. We found the secret to those, was set the teeth deep, and run them slower, worked best on fall plowed ground that way. If the soil started building up on the rollers, park it, and use the 4-section drag for finishing. |
