Disc Identification

I inherited a disc I'm attempting to return it to field condition. My dad traded for it as used around 1985. With the orange paint I thought it might be an Allis-Chalmers. There are no data plates or decals on the disc for identification.
Can anyone identify the make and possibly model? I couldn't upload the photos due to size. If someone would like to help me please send me an email address in the forum and I'll send a photo of the disc. Thanks.

Here's the photo.

That's an Allis-Chalmers KT disc.   I have a 12 foot version.  Very well made heavy disc.  I just need more tractor than my 180 to really pull mine.   Mike

That was a pic from the day it arrived on the farm.  It was long ago adjusted to the least aggressive angle.  I also run depth stops now on the cylinder and do manage with it in high 2nd with the 180.    Mike

My 180 gas has 65 PTO HP.   185 at 75 HP would be better and a 190XT would be perfect if you wanted to sink it all the way in and use as a primary tillage disc. 

I don't know when they were first made but they came from Oxnard in CA and not the normal tillage line built at LaPorte.  According to Norm Swinford's book, the KT was still being built in 1981.  It says a 12' KT with 32 blades weighed 3700 lbs and sold for about $6100 that year.   Mike

Looks like the 2550 was a newer version of the one I have. Here's another photo of mine. Note the flat stock rear cross member versus the channel iron on the 2550 and the bolted corners on the front cross member on mine versus welded on the 2550.

Wow Don, I bet that's quite a load on the 'ol WD45. I like the newer style traction boost hitch. I have all the parts to convert mine to the old style snap coupler. I hooked it up and it took the whole field to turn and even more to backup! Just pull it form the drawbar for now.

Yes I sold the disk to Mike and it's got a good home now. I found it in the back of a barn, it was dark inside and the owner said it was a 12' footer so I jumped on the price went home got on the old WD45 drove about ten miles and pulled it out in the sun light only to see it was way to heavy for my tractors, man that trip home was hard on both me and the tractor never tried 4th gear, after that trip I made the call to find a new home for that heavy a$$ed disk.  I was at Mike's for one of his plow days when Rick has his D19 gas on this disk and it had all it needed back there. lol

I have a kt disc like that so does my brother in law his has the flat bar across the back and mine has Channel iron mine is a newer model. There a good disc but if you have stones stay below 5mph as they like to break the bearing hanger brackets. I've had mine 2 years now and have found if your ripping up a hay field it's best to break it up with a chisel plow first. I have pulled it with 930 case 190xt 7040 and a 4166 ihc the xt pulls it best
