My late beans are finally about ready to cut, so the All Crop 40 came out of its long slumber last night. It took me about three hours to pull it out of the shed and install the chaffer screens and drapers, and since I didn't get started until I got home from work at 5, it was pretty well dark when I was able to start it up for a quick checkout run. Thus the "video by the dropcord light". I'm hoping to get started on the beans soon, so stay tuned for more video.

The donut tires are there for a reason. The original tires were 5.00-16's which are kinda hard to find these days. Since the reel is ground driven a larger tire diameter tends to slow down the reel. The donut spare tires are the right size, and the price was right!
I made a pass through the beans with the 40 this afternoon, but the stems were a little tough and they tended to load up on the chaffers. I also had trouble with cracked grain, so I'm thinking that I'll have to open up the cylinder clearances a little. |

Good to see the little beast again. Lloyd would be proud knowing it was still in use.
You can jump up to 5.50-16s and it wouldn't slow the reel too much and these would look right! http://www.millertire.com/categories/implement-tires/5-50-16/ |
