Im getting very little fire thru the plug wire its a dull yellow spark and doesnt give any jolt maybe once out of 100 tries to start. It seema to me that I'd have to take the engine out to get to the points or whatever. Ive heard of a method of putting a battery type system on there to bypass the ild stuff. Has anyone ever done this? My little tractor runs great and i love it really would like some advice on this. Im not much of a mechanic thanks in advance

Yellow spark usually indicates a bad condenser.

No need to remove engine. Points are on left side of engine under a rectangular cover.

The coil is mounted above the flywheel but the points are external. Check those first, probably just need to be cleaned.
