 Topic: D-17 Heavy Duty Wide Front

What are the differences between a regular D-17 Wide Front and the Heavy Duty version. I know the oblivious of the six bolt hubs but what were the other differences?

Series lll and iv were heavier built all over than earler models. MACK

The heavier wide front was introduced in the late Series II about SN 38xxx IIRC. They were still 5 bolt hubs until some time into Series IV production from my observation. Mike.

I agree. 6 Bolt hubs became standard equipment in late 65 or early 66. Seen a few Series IIs with the heavy front axle.
