The Manual calls for an AC 45 plug. Is that the same as an AC R45? I appreciate your response. Dan

I'm 'thinking' the R means it has a built in resistor for noise suppression ??
Be nice to KNOW though..... Jay |

The "R" stands for a Resistor plug. Although it probably wouldn't hurt the ignition system any because its a Distributor, the plug that works quite well in a G model w/Continental is the Autolite 295's. As a matter of fact, the Autolite 295's work good in a lot of the older AC machines. The Autolite 303 is an optional plug, and is a fuzz colder than the 295. Worn engines work better with the 295's mainly because its a little hotter plug... HTH

When we sold them we lived with the AC-45, AC-47, and AC-48, depending on how "hot" a plug you needed - we used the AC-48's in the older machines.
However, that was in the 40's 50's and very early 60's. In today's market I have heard very interesting reports that the AC plugs are not all that good. Listen to what my friend SteveNJ says. He is our on line electrical expert and knows from deep experience. I would fully rely on him. Take good care of your G. You have a Classic Allis Chalmers tractor. The best plowing tractor I sold. Good Luck! Bill Long |
