Is there a sickle mower that fits a 7040? I have never seen a sickle on a 7040, I have a 7040 and need to do some ditch mowing. I sold my C many years back and kick myself for doing that as it was all set up with a sickle that worked well. Looking for options / suggestions, Thanks, John.

Quite a lot of tractor for a sickle mower, I'd think.

there's all kinds of sickle mowers made that'll fit a 7040 or a 7080 for that matter....but...like Doug says! I've run a sickle mower on my 7010, and that is way to much tractor for it, but was the only tractor available at the time to use. if the 7040 is all you have...I guess use it!

It definitely is an overkill, but just hook up any trailer type sickle mower to it. Darrel

yeah I know it's big but the only tractor I have right now. so most mowers will be a cat 1 I assume? So Dale what mower did you have hooked up to your 7010? Maybe I should go find another C with a sickle.... just didn,t want another tractor at this time.

and Darrell, are the trail type mowers a pain to maneuver ? I have looked at a few online and they don't look user friendly. I ask because the roadway has some tight spots.

John, are you wanting a sickle mower that mounts on the three-point or a belly-mount? If the ditch is not too steep or deep, you may be better using a rider mower with the deck all the way up.

I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

John...it was a cat II IH that mounted on the lower 2 arms of the 3-pt. 7 ft bar. it used to be attached to an old Farmall "H" tractor that I don't have anymore. my mower also has the tail wheel.

they aren't terrible, but they are use able. Backing them up really sucks. Usually you can find them cheap enough. As far as 3 pt mount one, you should be able to remove the sway blocks and put bushings in the swivels and make one work, Darrel |

Well good news, the guy that bought my 50 hp red tractor called me today and told me to come and get it!!FREE
It still runs but the clutch went out and he doesn't want to mess with it.( citybot horse guy) so now I will put a sickle bar on that tractor. |
