And swapped in some very worn wear plates for some less worn ones i had that came with the combine. Oh also about 10 sections got replaced and i file sharpened some others. Oh the best part! Forgot to order the half section that goes on the end and was missing so i cut a regular one in half! Works great now!    It was badley in need of tlc

you are not a sickle expert till you get to mess with rivets with a hammer, chisel, and punch.

I can do it, but for the sake of the cutterbar and my sanity, its best I didn't. :D

My old man can do it quick, I am impressed and POed at the same time. Consequently, he doesn't see the problem with rivets and won't pony up for the bolt on... :)

Gleaner: the properly engineered and built combine.

If you need parts for your Gleaner, we are parting out A's through L2's, so we may be able to help.

I ground out rivets and replaced with bolts. This cutter bar is about half and half. The wear plates and hold downs were all about 1/4" from the sickle so it was moving around too much. Thats why the head broke. I really need about 12 more sections done and all new wear plates with a few gaurds but had to get the beans done. It really sucks not having a dealer close by

Really not a bad job its just when your trying to beat the rain and at the same time do your best with what you have it gets a little crazy. If i had a nice concrete floor shop and a rolling stool id be set!
