Ok, a 190xt, new alternator, new alternator pulley, new tach cable, new belt, original tach drive gears that are in good condition, new tachometer. Originally I didn't put a new alternator pulley on and the rpms were reading weird. Mack said the pulled was worn out. I got a new pulley and mack was correct. It seems as the rpms are reading within about 100 or so of what it should be. I'm going to get a rpm gauge/camera reader to see exactly how far off it actually is reading.
Now the real issue is, or I should say, the current issue is the friggin hour meter part doesn't work. The 100's work, the tenth's is stuck between1 & 2 tenth's. Went on a tractor ride yesterday and had the engine singing 3/4 to full throttle (had to do that just type o keep this snail from falling behind) for 4 hours. The hour meter reads 00001/2 8 lol. What the heck, how the heck do I fix that. |

the hour meter is gear driven inside the tach. the tach needle is a flying magnet mechanism, if the tach is working and the hour meter doesnt, you have a gear problem inside the tach. I had the same issue on my 190xt. hour meter didnt work but tach did. i tore it apart, to see if i could fix it but the worm gear that drives the hourmeter was worn off.
hmmm just re read your post... and see new tach. i would try to exchange it for a new tach from vendor if you could Edited by CAL(KS) - 07 Sep 2015 at 5:15am |
