The Mid Iowa Antique Power Association held their annual Show this weekend. This is a real nice working show held just west of Marshalltown. IH was the feature this year so pics will be a little red heavy. We will start with the Orange though. Here's a nice 45 Diesel.  Nice little IB.  This WD W/Oxnard blade belongs to a forum member, I'll let him chime in if he wants.  Nice little CA, this could come stay at my house.  D17, last tractor in the parade of power or whatever they call it.  190 earning it's keep.

There was some real nice and some very rare IH stuff. This was pretty easy for me, I like red tractors too. There were some nice 1206's like this one.  There were three super 70 series there, only 34 total made. 15 7488's, 19 7288's. These two are owned by the same gentleman.   He also has this 1456 and a 1206 I don't have a shot of, poor guy.  About as nice a 450 as you're likely to find.  350 Diesel.  560 MFWD, the school system had one of these when I was in grade school, (could have been a 460). Thought that was pretty cool.  The other 7488, I wonder how many of the 34 are still alive?  Nice pair of 1256's.  766 with 5.9 cummins conversion. Governed at 3100 rpm with 20.8 38's. Owner says 32 MPH.  450 with Gold demo plow. Not sure if they had 450 demos or not.  Hydro 100.  Cub Lo Boy.  Another 1206. The white seems very white to me on these.  1066 Narrow front.

There were some Olivers too. Only got a couple of pics of them. I should have shot some of the ollie tractor pullers.   Spirit of 76 Case. This thing was loaded with iron.  Nice team of Percheron.  The 'Bull Pull', note the hand crank. Engine is a 4 cyl. MM. 8"X9" If my math is right that is a little over 1800 cubic in.

Last but not least a three speed pump jack. This thing fascinated me.  You can see how the gears are three different offsets and radius. Whoever dreamed this up and made it work had to be a genus, especially in the days long before cnc.  The little Hit and Miss powering it.

Glad you like them Grinder. I enjoy looking at everyone Else's photos so I try to post some for everyone else to see. I thought AC followed IH last time around but next years feature is jd. You won't get near as many photos next year.

Looks like a nice show with dry weather. Thanks for posting the pictures. I used to show gas engines there back in the 80's and early 90's. Then bought my first AC tractor so I could spend my money faster, but never hauled tractors over there. Armand

OK the tractors are nice but that pump, man I gotta get one !! It truly is a mine blowing piece of TRUE engineering ! If I look at it right, during each revolution it goes fast,then slower, then slow, then fast, slower, slow,forever.Sure be nice to figure out who made it and when. Bet you there ain't more than a handful left in the world and that's a shame !

Jay, I don't know who the manufacturer was. Spotted this thing on Saturday, (it was running at the time) didn't have my camera. Went back Sunday to take pics and it wasn't running. I would have shot video if it had been running. The thing runs very smooth.
Hopefully it will be there next year, I'll get the info from the owner then.

driving those IH "ant eaters" is a blast! when IH were first testing those, a friend of mine did a lot of testing for IH on his farm in Iowa, he received one of those to test and use. don't remember the # on it...but seems it was like a 2188? not sure...anyways....he said he was driving it into his shed after a day in the field and didn't think about that nose way out in front until he hit the back wall of his building pushing the tin off! IH had to send out a new hood too!

60s era Deeres especially Waterloo tractor products suffer from the front of the hood reaching the end of the barn before the front tires too. Some how the industrial stylists (like Henry Dreyfuss) missed that practical detail. Sometimes consulting industrial designers did the tin work for multiple makers of cars, tractors, trucks, furniture, and buildings. They probably also affected paint colors.

The varying gear ratios on that pump let it do the parts of the pump stroke that aren't loaded, like around top and bottom dead centers and the down stroke faster so more of the time the engine is loaded lifting water and that makes it pump more water for a given engine speed. And then governors on the hit and miss engines were not so great and evening up the load made them work better. But it was a lot of work to make the gear set and make it work smoothly.
