Ok, now it's time to rant about the battery.....yeesh.

I have 3 D-14s and need 1 battery decide to make them all the same(sounded good....), so I call the local Canadian Tire(Canuck version of NAPA/Az/etc.) and give them THEIR part number for THEIR battery that's only 6 years old.
'Sorry that's not in the computer'.....
'What car is it for?'.....
I give him the dimensions, CCA,time, etc but
NO amount of time or energy or information about THEIR battery  can help.

I just shake my head, hangup....go to Walmart to buy hydraulic oil( cheapest in town ALWAYS in stock), look at batteries, measure them, grab one, $20 CHEAPER than CanadianTire, same warranty and NOBODY asked 'What car is it for?'.....

Is it me or is the genepool  getting low?????
I'm thinking it's time for a big EMP blast to kill all these silly computers go back to pencil and paper !

cheers
rant's over

Jay
ps...that's 2 what's #3 going to be !!

I made all my AC's use the same battery.  When one goes bad, I use the  receipt from the  last one, and return it to wallyworld.  Like joining the battery free, for life plan!

When you go to wallyworld notice the manufacturing date code on each battery. If you can get to the back of the battery kiosk pick the battery with the most recent code, preferably less than a month old. That battery will give better service than one left on the shelf for several months or a year. Or hope to find the rack out of stock for the battery you want, meaning next week it will be filled with the latest date code batteries.

The return clerk should notice the battery date code is way different from the receipt and not match that new sales slip to the old battery, but smarts aren't a characteristic under that roof.

They at wallyworld has a difficult time, knowing that someone is in the return, line,  let alone to look for the date code.  Somehow, the little date sticker on the side of the battery, never survives the first pressure washing!

Magneto - No battery, crank and away you go! I know some don't like that option but I do.  Avoids the 12 Volt DC circuitry and potential for ohms resistance in the starting circuit particularly in a condensing environment.

When I get older and can't crank then battery.

I ran into that at Monroe  Brake and shock. I was looking for a shock for a monroe set for the wc about 6 yrs ago.The guy said monroe shock is different. I said your sign says monroe shocks on it as well as brakes .So I said you don,t have shocks? yes we sell shocks .Ok      then i need a shock that is like this one ,Whats it for ? A tractor  seat I said we don ,t have those  I sad you mean to tell me you can answer that from behind your desk not even looking at .Well maybe there is something on the shelf as he sat there bring it back tomorrow and I will look. There was no cars on the lift,no one waiting for anything and 2 in the afternoon . I told sorry that i bothered him go back to sleep and walked out.I went to our NAPA store and they took a mesurement, made a call and I had it there at 5 oclock .Needless to say Monroe Brake and Shock will never get a dime from me

Yeah I don't know WHY WallyWorld has such a bad rap...SAME stuff can be bought at ANY other 'big box' store, Harbour Freight,ANY auto parts supplier, etc.maybe a different colour but it's the same stuff!
re: magnetos....I'm already kinda missing 2 lower discs(back not implement) can't afford to bust a thumb 'forgetting' how to crank an engine!
cheers
