My pump leaks where i circled it in the picture....Does this shaft seal come out easily
without tearing down the pump? i dont want to tear down the pump it works ok...... since im in there i might as well replace the seal in the other small shaft to the left of it as long as i dont have to tear it down. wouldnt mind replacing it dont like getting my garage floor all wet with oil and tracking it into the house. |

Check the linkages inside that housing while you have it apart. The pivot holes wear and sometimes need to be welded up and redrilled, or replaced. Good luck with that project.

Most problems can be solved with the proper application of high explosives.

U will have to pull the pump off to get that rear section off. With back section off then disassemble stuff on than shaft and pull out shaft.Dig out seal and install new and reassemble everything. Not too hard but can't guarantee no mess. Drain plug in front of pto box for hyd and don't forget the little one on bottom of that hsg you're goin to re-seal. Put down lots of news paper. Flatten(taper) the end of 4 nails to wedge in the top side of plunger levers(push plungers in and lock lever)when putting back on tractor. It gives you room to fish pump in by keeping rollers out of the way.Once you get the rollers past the gasket surface you can pull the nails and release the plungers.
While you're there you just as well replace the other shaft seal. Edited by SteveM C/IL - 26 Jun 2012 at 12:35am |
