 Topic: Model C Starter Linkage

The two photos show the fixtures for the starter linkage on my 1942 Model C. The rod goes thru a washer welded to a bolt. I'm curious about what the original fixture was.

mine had a littel U strap under the battery box bottom.

You also need the correct rod. that is a pull rod and should go to a loop up under the throttle quadrant. the push rod just goes through a L bracket with a hole in it. In the morning I can get pictures of both types. It's to dark in my shed to get any tonight.

Most likely a piece of metal angle with one side bolted to the battery box mount and the starter rod running through the other side with a return spring, cotter pin and washer installed on the rod if it is the push style. The pull style usually had a u clamp mounted on the steering support post.

The loop should be 90 degrees to the rod and a spring between the washer and rod clip. I think there is 2 different setups depending on year. You will find numerous variation fabed up over the years.

What size is the "farmerized" cotter pin? Looks to be about an 8D. I've used a few of the same kind in various sizes. Tim

This is indeed a pull rod.
